Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

RankedIn is operated by Dharankar LLC ("we", "us", or "our"). RankedIn is a career analytics platform that helps professionals understand and improve their LinkedIn presence. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data.

By using RankedIn at rankedin.app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

• LinkedIn data export (ZIP file): When you upload your LinkedIn data export, we process the ZIP file server-side to calculate career scores and generate insights. We keep the raw ZIP file in private storage until you delete your account, and delete it within seconds of you confirming the account deletion.
• Derived interaction metadata: When your LinkedIn export includes messaging data, we may derive limited metadata about whether your existing LinkedIn connections show evidence of prior interaction and when the latest qualifying interaction occurred. We do not retain message content, subjects, conversation content, or email addresses as part of this derived interaction metadata.
• Account information: When you sign up via email, we store your email address and a hashed password. When you sign up via Google or LinkedIn OAuth, we receive and store your name, email address, and profile picture from those providers, and your LinkedIn profile URL when you sign in with LinkedIn.
• Usage data: We collect standard server logs, including IP addresses and browser type. We also use PostHog and Vercel Analytics to record the pages you visit and the actions you take in RankedIn. Once you sign in, these are linked to your account ID, and when you register your email address is also sent to PostHog. We use this for security monitoring, operating and improving the service.
• Connector usage: When you use rankedin through an AI assistant connector, we record operational information about each tool call, including the tool and its general category, the connector used, your account and a pseudonymous session identifier, whether the call succeeded, its duration, error type if it failed, whether an analysis was referenced, and a general outcome category. These events do not store the tool arguments or tool results, so what you asked and what rankedin returned are not kept in these events. We use this information to operate and improve the connector.
• Email preferences: We store your notification preferences (e.g. whether you have opted out of monthly reminders or health alerts).

3. How We Use Your Information

• To generate your LinkedIn career scores, network analysis, and AI-powered insights
• To send you analysis completion emails and optional monthly re-analysis reminders
• To send network health alerts if your scores drop significantly (opt-in)
• To provide peer benchmarking by comparing anonymised metrics across users in the same industry or role
• To improve the platform and diagnose technical issues

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Data Retention

• Raw ZIP files: Retained in private storage until you delete your account, then deleted within seconds of you confirming the deletion.
• Analysis results and derived metrics: Retained until you delete the associated analysis or your account. This may include scores, network metrics, career insights, and limited derived interaction metadata.
• Account data: Retained until you delete your account. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, analyses, uploaded files, connections, goals, Sprints, and caricature images from our database and file storage. We may keep usage records that no longer identify you. Deleted data may remain in database backups until they expire. Copies held by the service providers listed in Section 5 in their own logs and systems, such as email delivery, analytics, and team notifications, are not removed by this process.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate RankedIn:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
• Vercel — hosting and serverless compute
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Google (Gemini), OpenAI, and Perplexity, reached directly or through Vercel AI Gateway — AI models used to generate career insights, Sprint plans and drafts, company research, and the optional caricature score card
• PostHog and Vercel Analytics — product analytics
• Slack — internal notifications to our team about sign-ups, analyses, and applications, which can include your email address and scores
• Google OAuth — optional sign-in via Google account
• LinkedIn OAuth — optional sign-in via LinkedIn account

Each provider has its own privacy policy. When you use a feature that relies on an AI provider, we send it the parts of your LinkedIn data and of the information you enter in RankedIn that the feature uses. This information can identify you, and we do not anonymise it before sending it. For the optional caricature score card, this includes your photo and profile details. For company research, it includes job and company information.

6. Public Pages and Search Visibility

Completed analysis results can be accessed by anyone with the unique link. By default, we do not include these pages in our sitemap and ask search engines not to index them. If you generate a share card, its public page may be discoverable through search engines when Search engine visibility is enabled in Settings. You can turn off search visibility at any time in Settings. Changes may take time to be reflected by search engines.

If you choose to appear on the public leaderboard (off by default), your score and industry are shown publicly. If you also choose not to be anonymous, your name, photo, job title, and company are shown.

When you complete an analysis and your LinkedIn profile URL is known, we check whether you appear in connection lists other RankedIn users have uploaded. If you do, they may be notified by name that you joined RankedIn.

7. Your Rights

• Access: You can view all your analyses and scores at any time from your dashboard.
• Deletion: You can delete your account from the Settings page. Section 4 describes what this removes.
• Email opt-out: Optional emails, such as reminders, digests, and health alerts, include an unsubscribe link. You can also turn health alerts on or off in Settings. Emails about your account or an analysis you requested do not include one.
• Data portability: Contact us at the email below to request a copy of your stored data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of RankedIn after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
